1. What is your role regarding work-life at [institution]?
I am currently the Director in the Office of Faculty at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. I am also the co-Chair of the Work Life Balance Committee for the University. In my role in faculty services, I assist faculty with relocation, housing, schooling for their children, onboarding, leaves of all kinds, and retirement. For the committee, we have been working towards creating a Work Life office at NYU. We currently do not have one. I am thrilled to report that because of our efforts over the last 20 months, a new position and office is being created with a tentative start date of January 2018.

  2. What do you like most about your job; what makes it all worthwhile?
I enjoy working with the faculty when they arrive here on campus for the first time. Getting them oriented and settled in is one of my highlights. I also am great at troubleshooting their issues as they continue in their careers here. It’s important to me that they don’t have to worry about certain things that I can handle for them so that they can concentrate on teaching and working with their students.

  3. What’s something you like to do when you aren’t at work; what do you do off the clock?
I have four children at home, including toddler boy/girl twins so my “off the clock” time is on the clock Mommy time. I try to soak up every minute I am with them since I have to be away working for 40+ hours a week.

  4. Why did you join CUWFA?
I joined CUWFA in order to gain further knowledge from other institutions regarding best practices in the Work Life area. Ultimately I would like to move into a job that is more focused on work life so that I can continue the work I do with faculty into the other constituents of University life - the staff and students.
